Today, I’m an MBA and Certified Leadership & Voice and Communication Coach in NYC.  After working several years in a Senior Management role with a big consulting firm, I currently run CultureStrategy, a 7-figure consulting and coaching company in DC and NYC. 

BUT, most people don’t know my back story. This success took me years of overcoming a lot of what was holding me back in expressing my confidence, voice, and unique leadership capabilities. 

Believe it or not, growing up, I was painfully shy and socially anxious. I was known in school as “the girl who never talks.” I used to hide in the bathroom when I would have to give a presentation. As a result, I even embarassingly got caught and sent to the Principal’s office a few times!

I knew a big part of my shyness had to do with being the only Indian-American in my class. I looked different and sounded different, and my classmates wouldn’t hesitate to point out the differences!  Being so different wore away at my inner confidence from a young age.

With a lot of deep work on my mindset through studying neuroscience in college, and then actually placing myself in challenging situations, I discovered an inborn capability for communication I never knew I had. 

I was shocked when people told me “I’m a natural,” “exceptionally engaging,” and “articulate.” Now when I tell people my stories from childhood, they think I’m lying!

Why do I share this? Well, I believe strongly in the deep potential we each have as human beings to overcome our obstacles. Yes, I believe we are always in flux – constantly growing and changing. So, we can become anyone we want to be if we put our minds and  hearts into it. 

Since working in the corporate world, I’ve found that communication skills are a HUGE gap that MOST leaders and managers have, but which often goes unaddressed. As a result, they are unable to motivate their teams fully or progress to higher levels in their own careers – in other words, they are unable to fulfill their full potential. 

That’s why I take so much passion in the work that I do. As a communication skills coach, I’ve worked with amazingly intelligent, gifted, and insightful leaders who were missing just one thing. They were unable to express their ideas effectively and engage their audiences. As a result, they were stunted in their careers and businesses.  I’ve helped them completely transform how they present themselves and get what they deserve in life. It’s truly been a gift for me to see it.
